About the position

The Adjunct Faculty position in Electrical Engineering Technology at the College of Lake County involves teaching various courses in electronics primarily during evening hours. The role requires the instructor to develop instructional plans, arrange weekly lessons, and evaluate student progress in alignment with departmental outcomes. This position is part-time and aims to provide quality education to students pursuing associate degrees and certificates in the field.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in electrical engineering, including labs.
• Create and distribute a course syllabus.
• Respond to and evaluate student performance.
• Develop instructional materials and assess student learning.
• Attend required adjunct meetings in the Fall and Spring semesters.
• Participate in college governance and academic life.
• Maintain current knowledge of subject matter and compliance training.
• Provide instructional support and refer students to specialized services when necessary.
• Deliver course content using various teaching styles.
• Maintain office and grade records as required by the College.
• Be available for student consultation through phone or email.
• Encourage students to submit course evaluations and use feedback to improve course delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or related field with specific additional qualifications for certain courses.
• Minimum of two years' work experience in electronics or related fields for specific courses.
• Associate's degree or higher in related fields with industrial manufacturing experience for PLC courses.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated professional learning or certification in evidence-based student-focused pedagogical practices.
• Experience in post-secondary and/or corporate teaching.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively with colleagues.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
