About the position

The Emergency Medical Services instructor teaches courses in the lecture, laboratory and/or clinical setting in the First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic programs. Courses may be taught in an array of teaching modalities: MDC In-Person, MDC Live (Learning Interactively in a Virtual Environment), MDC Online (online delivery) and Blended Classes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction in EMS courses
  • Evaluates and advises students
  • Develops curricula
  • Recruits students
  • Serves on committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services
  • 3 years of full-time work experience in emergency medicine/prehospital care
  • 1 year of teaching experience in delivery of content, skills instruction and remediation
  • Valid State of Florida EMT and Paramedic licensure
  • All degrees earned must be from regionally accredited institutions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
  • Ability to travel between campuses, clinical sites and off-campus offering sites
  • Basic computer skills

Nice-to-haves

  • A minimum of one (1) year in the First Responder/EMT/Paramedic teaching experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor certification
  • Current State of Florida Paramedic certification
