About the position
The Emergency Medical Services instructor teaches courses in the lecture, laboratory and/or clinical setting in the First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic programs. Courses may be taught in an array of teaching modalities: MDC In-Person, MDC Live (Learning Interactively in a Virtual Environment), MDC Online (online delivery) and Blended Classes.
Responsibilities
- Provides instruction in EMS courses
- Evaluates and advises students
- Develops curricula
- Recruits students
- Serves on committees
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services
- 3 years of full-time work experience in emergency medicine/prehospital care
- 1 year of teaching experience in delivery of content, skills instruction and remediation
- Valid State of Florida EMT and Paramedic licensure
- All degrees earned must be from regionally accredited institutions
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
- Ability to travel between campuses, clinical sites and off-campus offering sites
- Basic computer skills
Nice-to-haves
- A minimum of one (1) year in the First Responder/EMT/Paramedic teaching experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor certification
- Current State of Florida Paramedic certification
