About the position
The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University is seeking passionate, dedicated and experienced General Biology I and/or General Biology II Lecture instructors to join our adjunct faculty. This position will be primarily located at the Mercy University Dobbs Ferry campus and the instructor will be responsible for teaching one or more sections of General Biology I and/or General Biology II Lecture (fully in-person). Multiple sections of General Biology are available. This is an opportunity to join the School of Health and Natural Sciences with undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, health science, communication disorders, exercise science, nursing, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology as well as 5 accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies).
Responsibilities
- Teach one or more sections of General Biology I and/or General Biology II Lecture in-person.
- Engage in faculty development and collaboration on teaching, clinical, and research projects.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline preferred; M.S. in Biology or a related discipline required.
- Candidates with a record of excellent teaching at the undergraduate level are strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching General Biology Lectures to undergraduate students strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment and a diverse multicultural setting.
- Strong computer skills required, particularly with Learning Management Systems (LMS) like BlackBoard and teleconferencing software like Zoom and BlackBoard Collaborate.
- Experience teaching online preferred.
