About the position

The Adjunct Faculty position in Paralegal Studies at Lone Star College involves teaching courses designed to facilitate student learning and achievement of course objectives. The role requires planning, developing, and delivering engaging lessons while maintaining professional relationships with students and colleagues. This part-time position is contingent upon student demand and offers flexibility in scheduling, including day, evening, and weekend classes.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches Paralegal Studies courses at various times and locations.
  • Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  • Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Mastery of course content in Paralegal Studies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.
  • Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement and effective use of technology.
  • Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
