About the position

Los Angeles Harbor College (LAHC) is seeking applications for the position of Adjunct Vocational Education Instructor for the Digital Marketing Pre-Apprenticeship Program for the 2024 Academic School Year. This role is designed to create a pool of qualified applicants who will be responsible for teaching noncredit courses focused on digital marketing. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in digital marketing, bringing current industry knowledge and trends into the classroom to ensure students are well-prepared for the evolving digital landscape. The instructor will be expected to foster a collaborative and professional environment, working closely with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. A commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population is essential, and applicants are encouraged to demonstrate their sensitivity to the varied backgrounds of community college students. The position requires the instructor to prepare and deliver a range of courses within the Digital Marketing Pre-Apprenticeship Program, promoting an engaging and inclusive educational atmosphere that supports student learning. The successful candidate will be culturally responsive and adept at interacting with a diverse array of students and community members. Additionally, faculty may be required to conduct classes in a virtual learning environment, utilizing platforms such as CANVAS or other online modalities. Candidates with certifications in online teaching platforms may receive preference during the selection process. The salary for this position begins at $77.59 per standard hour, and the application process involves submitting a letter of interest, a current resume, references, and unofficial transcripts.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of Digital Marketing related courses within the Digital Marketing Pre-Apprenticeship Program.
  • Promote engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Demonstrate cultural responsiveness in interactions with a diverse student population.
  • Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using CANVAS or other methods of remote learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR
  • Associate degree and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR
  • Possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of digital marketing platforms such as Google Ads and Meta Social Media Advertising.
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms such as MailChimp and/or others.
  • Knowledge of implementing paid advertising strategies and Search Engine Optimization.
