About the position

The Adjunct Instructor for the ACR program at Union High School will facilitate learning for a custom ACR training program aimed at providing PLA credits for students. The role involves teaching courses focused on ACR system applications, commercial and residential air conditioning and heating systems, and commercial refrigeration, primarily in-person during daytime classes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and provide them to administration when appropriate.
  • Assist in course scheduling and the creation of instructional material as needed.
  • Assume daily responsibility for housekeeping and maintenance of classrooms and/or online courses.
  • Maintain course gradebook and respond to student questions via email in a timely manner.
  • Spend the necessary time to accomplish assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assist in developing and updating course materials and curriculum in conjunction with faculty and advisory committee representatives.
  • Participate in both unit and institution-wide student persistence efforts.
  • Design interactive, engaging, technology-enriched, and applications-focused student learning experiences.
  • Maintain up-to-date course outlines, objectives, assignments, and tests.
  • Participate fully in the academic assessment of student learning in alignment with accreditation expectations.
  • Represent the School and University in professional and community organizations and related activities.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities to meet the needs of the School or OSUIT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • HVAC Journeyman license preferred.
  • Three years of professional experience in the subject to be taught.
  • Demonstrated or strong potential for teaching excellence.
  • Documented successful work experience in the related industry.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and fulfill complex initiatives.
  • Computer skills including electronic communications and word processing.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of work, initiative, commitment, ethics, and professional responsibility.
  • Superior interpersonal skills to recognize and resolve complex problems constructively.
  • Ability to engage students and facilitate learning through effective communication.
