About the position

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on-going development of instructional strategies that meets the needs of students and employers and promote student success.

Responsibilities

  • Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement.
  • Create learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success.
  • Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful.
  • Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and learning.
  • Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, and ensure opportunities for student engagement evaluation.
  • Support the college by engaging with the division, department, and team members.
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners.
  • Serve as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students.
  • Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices through professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or above in related and appropriate field.
  • Minimum of four years of occupational experience in the field of the program or programs being taught.
  • At least one year of experience within the last five years.
  • Recent new-model, broad-based automotive collision repair experience preferred.
  • Teaching or training experience is desirable.
  • Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of, and throughout employment as an instructor.
  • Meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements.
  • ASE, I-CAR, or OEM credentials required within first year of hire.
  • Proficiency utilizing learning management system.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Air Conditioning Certification preferred.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands and circumstances.
