About the position

Utah Valley University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Electrical and Computer Engineering to design and teach courses in the field. The role involves preparing instructional materials, managing students in classrooms and labs, and ensuring academic standards are met in collaboration with full-time faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach courses in Electrical & Computer Engineering.
  • Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study with measurable objectives.
  • Prepare instructional materials such as course outlines, syllabi, and exams.
  • Instruct, manage, and supervise students in classrooms and computer labs using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Evaluate instruction and learning through appropriate testing methods in consultation with full-time faculty.
  • Work closely with an assigned full-time faculty member to meet academic and department standards.
  • Maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
  • Coordinate engaged and/or service-learning work experience programs with students as assigned.
  • Assist counselors, department chairperson, program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
  • Serve on curriculum committees and attend meetings as assigned.
  • Improve professionally and maintain currency in the courses taught by reading and utilizing materials from trade, technical, and professional publications, surveying and researching industrial and business establishments, obtaining and maintaining certification and degrees, attending professional courses, and keeping abreast of new development trends and techniques.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in subject matter (or related area).
  • 1-3 years professional experience in the area(s) of the position.
