About the position

The Adjunct Instructor for Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology at Danville Community College is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in a face-to-face setting. This part-time role involves preparing and teaching established curriculum, managing classroom activities, and ensuring a student-oriented learning environment. The instructor will engage with a diverse student population and maintain professionalism while fostering student success in the Electrical, Electronics, and Robotics fields.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor lab area for daily instructional activities including equipment setup.
  • Prepare for and instruct established and approved curriculum and lesson plans to students in a professional manner.
  • Adjust curriculum and training content to relate to various audiences.
  • Review and discuss syllabi requirements at the start of each term with students.
  • Answer all student questions to ensure understanding and completion of material.
  • Ensure students are aware of safety policies and monitor for correct procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism within the classroom and coach students on their professionalism.
  • Manage all classroom activity including lecturing, student assistance, and lab instruction.
  • Ensure students are attending lab and online coursework and resolve attendance issues as needed.
  • Monitor student grades and interactions in a timely manner.
  • Advise students on issues affecting their education and provide guidance as needed.
  • Assist in the maintenance of quality equipment and tools for program use.
  • Administer exams and evaluate student progress.
  • Create an engaging instructional environment for a diverse population of students.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology or related field.
  • Work experience in Electrical wiring, controls, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controls.
  • 5 years of related industry experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to the community college mission.
  • Willingness to learn concepts, equipment, and software related to the courses and programs to be taught.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and working effectively with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability and willingness to market the program to potential students of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence with enthusiasm for teaching.
  • Ability to use technology to enhance instruction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with and knowledge of Surface Mount Soldering.
  • Prior teaching experience at the community or technical college level.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Experience with programmable industrial robotic devices.
  • Experience with electric motors and motor starter circuits and devices.
  • Familiarity with general electronic test and analysis equipment such as multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and logic probes.
