About the position

The Adjunct Instructor for Electronics Engineering Technology at Joliet Junior College is responsible for providing quality instruction in assigned courses for one semester. This role involves collaborating with full-time faculty, assessing students, and adhering to departmental guidelines. The instructor may be required to teach at various campus sites and must comply with all legal and ethical obligations while promoting the college's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a course load of no more than 12 contact hours in the appropriate instructional area.
  • Participate in annual student and chair/coordinator evaluations.
  • Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, and assessments.
  • Attend classes regularly and return college reports and other requested documentation in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate staff and director.
  • Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA and ADA regulations.
  • Commit to furthering the mission, goals, and core values of the college.
  • Meet other contractual obligations as outlined in the adjunct faculty contract.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) or Electrical Engineering (EE) or a combination of education, training, and tested experience.
  • Three years of work experience in Electronics Engineering.
  • Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence.
  • Commitment to the college's core values of respect, inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor, well-being, innovation, and quality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience at the community college level.
  • Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs.
  • Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence.
