About the position

The Adjunct Instructor (History) position at Atlanta Technical College involves teaching evening classes and developing curriculum for the History department. This part-time role requires the instructor to utilize various teaching techniques to facilitate adult learning and manage classroom activities effectively. The instructor will also be responsible for advising students and maintaining professional qualifications as per the Technical College System of Georgia policies.

Responsibilities

  • Teach evening History classes.
  • Prepare syllabus and instructional materials such as PowerPoint presentations.
  • Set up course shells in Blackboard.
  • Manage classroom attendance and report no-shows.
  • Assign and report grades in a timely manner.
  • Grade student assignments and submit final grades.
  • Advise and counsel students, maintaining appropriate advisement records.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts for the program.
  • Attend department and other meetings as requested.
  • Maintain professional qualifications as required by TCSG Policy Manual.
  • Follow TCSG policies and procedures, and support the college's mission.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in History or a related field with 18 graduate hours in History from a regionally accredited institution.
  • One year of teaching experience in History or general education areas.
  • Experience as an instructor in a secondary or postsecondary setting.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
  • Experience with BANNER and LMS is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills.
