About the position

The University of Cincinnati is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for the Industrial Design program within the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. The Ullman School of Design aims to prepare its students to be skilled professionals who can effectively navigate both local and global markets while respecting the diversity of the human community. The school is dedicated to innovative teaching methods and transforming design disciplines by integrating the latest design thinking techniques and technologies into the curriculum. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for administering existing core curriculum courses, ensuring that the academic experience of students is met with professionalism and excellence. This role includes submitting grades, referring students with special needs to appropriate advisers, and coordinating with other faculty members for multi-section course alignment. In addition, you may serve as an academic adviser and evaluate student coursework. The position requires engagement in activities that support your responsibilities and timely responses to all university-related communications. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Industrial Design or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field with at least six years of industry experience. This role is crucial in maintaining the high standards of the program and contributing to the overall mission of the School of Design.

Responsibilities

  • Administer existing core curriculum syllabi with some potential modification.
  • Submit grades for all students enrolled in the course.
  • Refer students with any special needs or circumstances to DAAP advisers when necessary.
  • Coordinate with other faculty members for multi-section course alignment.
  • May serve as an academic adviser for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Industrial Design or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or related field with 6 years of industry experience.
