About the position

The Adjunct Instructor for the Law Enforcement Academy at Western Technical College is responsible for delivering quality academic instruction and curriculum to students, preparing them for careers in law enforcement. This role emphasizes social justice and equity, aiming to create a productive learning environment that supports student success. The instructor will primarily teach in a face-to-face format at the Sparta Public Safety Training Facility, engaging with students to develop critical thinking skills and vocational competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver courses in various formats including face-to-face, online, and hybrid/blended.
  • Develop and implement instructional design activities.
  • Monitor student progress and conduct evaluations.
  • Provide academic referrals and maintain student records.
  • Organize and deliver outcomes-based curriculum and assess student learning.
  • Complete required college training and maintain necessary skills.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or a minimum of 60 accredited semester credits or 90 accredited quarter credits.
  • Three years of full-time certified occupational experience as a law enforcement officer, with one year within the last five years.
  • Completion of the State of Wisconsin-Department of Justice Instructor Development Course required at time of hire or eligible to complete within 3 months.
