About the position

The Adjunct Instructor for Manufacturing Engineering Technologies-Machining (METM) at Lansing Community College is responsible for teaching courses related to manufacturing engineering technologies, focusing on quality control, metrology, and machining techniques. This part-time position requires a strong background in the manufacturing field and aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the discipline through innovative teaching methods. The role emphasizes collaboration within a diverse educational environment and is designed to adapt to the evolving needs of the industry.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Manufacturing Engineering Technologies (MET) including subjects such as Metrology, Advanced Inspection, Metallurgy, and Heat Treatment.
• Utilize innovative teaching methods to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.
• Maintain a regular on-campus presence and be available for daytime and evening teaching assignments as needed.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success and program development.
• Stay updated with trends in the manufacturing field and incorporate relevant content into the curriculum.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Technologies or a related field with two years of recent, relevant experience; OR an Associate's Degree with four years of relevant experience; OR Journey status in a manufacturing trade with four years of relevant work; OR a High School Diploma/GED with eight years of relevant documented work.
• Unofficial transcripts from institutions of higher learning must be submitted as part of the application process.

Nice-to-haves

• Instructional teaching experience in secondary and/or post-secondary education.
• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, metallurgy, chemistry, metrology, or a related field.
• Experience in a metallurgy/heat treatment lab environment.
• Experience in 5 axis, contoured surface, and high-speed machining.
• Software experience with Mastercam, Solid Edge, NX, Unigraphics.
