About the position

The Adjunct Instructor of Theatre at Thiel College is responsible for teaching introductory level theatre courses, specifically Theatre Appreciation in the Fall and Technical Theatre in the Spring. This role may also include responsibilities as a Technical Supervisor, compensated at an hourly rate in addition to the adjunct salary. The position aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of theatre and technical aspects of production.

Responsibilities

• Teach THAR 110 Theatre Appreciation in the Fall semester.
• Teach THAR 217 Technical Theatre in the Spring semester.
• Possibly serve as Technical Supervisor, depending on qualifications.
• Engage students in a rich and fulfilling curricular and cocurricular experience.

Requirements

• Minimum of an MA Degree in Theatre.
• Practical work experience in theatre is preferred.
• MFA Degree in Technical Theatre, Lighting Design, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
• Commensurate professional experience may be considered in lieu of the MA/MFA.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience teaching in-person courses.
• Experience in technical theatre and lighting design.
