About the position

The Part-Time adjunct Instructor will report directly to the Department Head of Curriculum and Instruction. The Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for serving as (1) the liaison between the university and school district, (2) the instructor for college courses and mentor teacher training, and (3) the instructional coach for their teacher candidates admitted into the Teacher Education program.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with district/county and school administrators to select high-quality mentor teachers.
  • Analyze, interpret, and respond to bi-weekly mentor surveys.
  • Conduct quarterly mentor-teacher trainings with the support of your professional development coach.
  • Facilitate quarterly partnership meetings (Governance Meetings) to create & foster a positive relationship with the district and school site staff.
  • Teach 1-3 class sections each semester (depending on faculty status), including 1 section of the student teaching course.
  • Regular communication with program faculty.
  • Supervise one cohort (n = 10-25) of teacher candidates.
  • Conduct weekly walk-throughs outside of performance assessment cycles to collect data and provide ongoing support to teacher candidates.
  • Conduct formal performance assessments of teacher candidates 4 times per year.
  • Ensure accurate entry of performance assessment ratings.
  • Ensure recording, uploading (within 48-hours of PA) and accurate labeling of performance assessments and POP cycle recordings into the video storage warehouse.
  • Attend and participate in coordinator training and ongoing professional development meetings.
  • Attend College faculty and program meetings to contribute and share evaluation ratings of teacher candidates.
  • Follow all rules and guidelines established by the district/county for acceptable Professional Conduct and Dress.
  • Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication and confidentiality with teacher candidates and school/district personnel.
  • Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the school sites.
  • Demonstrate commitment to all learners.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset towards future educators and school sites.
  • Ability to be flexible and coach mentors and candidates from a strengths-based perspective.

Requirements

  • Minimum Master's Degree in an education-related field.
  • Current Principal Certification preferred.
  • Experience in IHE, and 3 years teaching in a K-12 setting.
