About the position

The position involves providing quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations. Faculty are responsible for the quality of the educational program, which includes managing course content and the flexible sections and content of the syllabi for all assigned courses. Instructors must follow the course descriptions set forth in the common course library and maintain order in classrooms. They are also responsible for ensuring proper storage of materials and equipment after use. Instructors are required to prepare, distribute, and review a course syllabus with students during the first week of class, outlining clear and reasonable learning outcomes and expectations. Active learning techniques and a variety of learner-centered instructional strategies should be implemented to assist students in meeting course objectives. These strategies may include cooperative learning, experiential learning, writing for learning, and critical thinking initiatives. Faculty development support will be available to enhance skills in these areas. The focus is on student learning outcomes, taking into account the needs and abilities of students and the mission of the college. Instructors should be familiar with academic and social supports that benefit diverse groups and be supportive of students' educational goals, making reasonable provisions to accommodate individual differences while maintaining academic integrity. Faculty are expected to perform other assignments consistent with their professional abilities as assigned by the program or department chair or administration. This includes working with students, peers, and administrative staff in a professional manner, being available for student appointments, and being prompt and accurate in recording and reporting student data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform additional assignments as directed by program or department chair.
  • Work professionally with students, peers, and administrative staff.
  • Be available for student appointments to assist with educational and vocational goals.
  • Record and report student data accurately and promptly.
  • Submit required paperwork by established deadlines.
  • Teach day or evening classes as required.
  • Communicate issues or concerns to the Department Chair.

  • Instructor must meet all SACSCOC faculty credentials for this position.
