About the position

The Adjunct Professor of Biology at Oklahoma City Community College is primarily responsible for providing quality instruction in various biology courses, including Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology, Human Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, and Zoology. This role involves developing clear course objectives, preparing relevant class activities, and delivering effective presentations of learning materials. The adjunct faculty member is expected to maintain fair grading practices, respond promptly to student inquiries, and foster a positive classroom atmosphere. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the adjunct professor will participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes and collaborate with program and division administrators to support the integrity of the curriculum and promote student success. The adjunct faculty member will also be required to hold office hours for student consultation, either face-to-face or online, depending on the teaching format. This position requires a commitment to the college's mission and goals, as well as a willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills relevant to the academic discipline. The adjunct professor must adhere to the policies and procedures established by the Board of Regents and the college, contributing to a safe educational environment and participating in health and safety training as required. Overall, the role is designed to support student learning and success while promoting the mission of the Division of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Biological Sciences.
  • Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate concepts clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact effectively with students in individual and group settings.
