About the position

The Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Oklahoma City Community College is responsible for providing quality instruction in psychology courses, either in traditional or online formats. This role emphasizes supporting student learning, maintaining office hours, and promoting the college's mission. The adjunct faculty member is expected to engage in curriculum integrity and student success initiatives while being a current resident of Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality instruction in psychology courses as agreed upon with the dean/director.
  • Support student learning through clear course objectives and effective course management practices.
  • Maintain required office hours for student consultation, both in-person and online as needed.
  • Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes and general education outcomes for the college.
  • Respond in a timely manner to information requests from program, division, and college administrators.
  • Attend required meetings and acquire new knowledge and skills relevant to the academic discipline.
  • Support the college's and program's vision, mission, goals, and priorities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Psychology or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.
  • Basic internet and computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with colleagues and peers.
  • Ability to communicate concepts clearly both verbally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hybrid, in-person, and Zoom instruction.
  • Experience working in high schools or with concurrently enrolled students.
  • Online teaching certification.
