About the position

The Adjunct RN (OBGYN) Clinical Instructor position at Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing in Lancaster, CA, is a part-time role focused on teaching nursing students in the OBGYN specialty. The instructor will be responsible for integrating nursing theories, particularly Jean Watson's Theory of Caring and QSEN principles, into clinical practice while providing hands-on instruction and support to students. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care and nursing education.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a reliable source of information on evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to integrate nursing perspectives into patient care plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive wellness and illness assessments using evidence-based techniques.
  • Design and evaluate educational programs for patients and families.
  • Lead clinical practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor nursing staff and students to develop their skills and incorporate evidence into practice.
  • Conduct random audits to assess the impact of educational interventions on patient care.
  • Facilitate collaborative relationships within and across departments to promote patient safety and clinical excellence.
  • Critically analyze research findings for their potential application in clinical practice.
  • Maintain professional licensure and adhere to organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Current RN license to practice in California.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS & PALS as required by the nursing staff specific to the unit.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing for Instructor level; Bachelor's degree or higher in nursing or related area for Assistant Instructor level.
  • Two years of successful work experience in nursing, with two years in specialty preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
  • Clinical knowledge in the specialty area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in area of clinical specialty preferred.
  • Experience in teaching nursing students.
