About the position

The Adjunct RN (Pediatrics) Clinical Instructor at Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing is responsible for providing clinical instruction to nursing students, integrating nursing theories and evidence-based practices into the curriculum. The role emphasizes the application of Jean Watson's Theory of Caring and Quality Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) principles, ensuring that students develop a comprehensive understanding of patient-centered care, teamwork, and safety in clinical settings. The instructor will also oversee lab sessions, mentor students, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance nursing education and practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical instruction to nursing students in pediatrics.
  • Integrate Jean Watson's Theory of Caring into clinical practice and education.
  • Develop and implement educational programs for students and patients.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and plan care conferences for patients.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to resolve patient care issues and improve outcomes.
  • Evaluate nursing interventions and their impact on patient care and resources.
  • Mentor nursing students and staff in clinical skills and evidence-based practices.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of educational interventions.
  • Maintain professional conduct and adhere to nursing standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in California.
  • BLS Certification required; ACLS and PALS as needed.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience in nursing.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and guide nursing students effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in area of clinical specialty preferred.
  • Experience in nursing education or clinical instruction.
