About the position

The Adjunct - Web and Multimedia Design position involves delivering classroom or online instruction for courses related to web and multimedia design. The role emphasizes creating a conducive learning environment, preparing course materials, and engaging students effectively to promote their success. The instructor is responsible for assessing student performance and maintaining accurate records of student progress.

Responsibilities

• Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a conducive classroom environment.
• Prepare all course materials and lessons adequately.
• Provide clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through written outlines and syllabi.
• Create interesting and relevant assignments that demonstrate learning outcomes.
• Engage and communicate with students to encourage participation and learning.
• Complete grade books, final grade sheets, and assessments on time.
• Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
• Maintain records of each student's progress and make them available upon request.
• Facilitate meaningful learning of course competencies and support the learning environment.
• Promote student success by being flexible in teaching style and schedule.
• Design, administer, and grade examinations to assess course objectives.
• Complete end-of-term responsibilities, including submission of final grades and attendance records.
• Consult with academic personnel on course curricula and instructional strategies.
• Respond to requests from students and faculty in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in the teaching subject area or a closely related degree with 18 college credit hours in the subject area.
• At least 2 years of industry or business experience in the teaching subject area.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of HTML, HTML5, CSS, and CSS3.
• Strong working knowledge of design principles.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous teaching experience in an academic environment.
• 4 years of industry or business applied experience in the teaching subject area.
• Experience with online teaching and/or instruction in higher education.
• Experience working with students from diverse academic backgrounds.
• Ability to enhance proficiency in classroom technology and innovative instructional support systems.

Benefits

• Compensation of $660.00 per lecture hour for new adjuncts.
