About the position

The Academic Support Coach for Secondary Science is responsible for modeling lessons and facilitating instructional strategies for teachers and small groups. This role aims to improve teaching practices and student achievement through coaching, data analysis, and professional development. The coach will work collaboratively with educators to implement district curriculum and initiatives, focusing on systemic change and sustainability in instructional practices.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize various methods to improve teaching, including coaching and data monitoring.
  • Provide targeted feedback to teachers regarding classroom instruction and student achievement.
  • Assist in implementing district curriculum and strategies through classroom coaching and data analysis.
  • Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on lesson internalization and data-driven instruction.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate content-based and instructional-based action plans.
  • Identify areas needing improvement in classroom instruction and monitor student data.
  • Serve as an instructional liaison between district departments and campus personnel.
  • Collaborate with campus staff to facilitate systemic change and sustainability of district initiatives.
  • Arrange and provide job-embedded professional development for teachers.
  • Support the development and implementation of the English Language Development (ELD) plan and K-12 biliteracy program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in education preferred.
  • Colorado Teaching License in specified subject area required; CLDE and ReadAct preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a teacher; three years of successful leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to problem-solve and manage conflicts.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze and use multiple sources of data.
  • Strong interest in urban education and improving student achievement.
