The University of North Carolina at Asheville is seeking a dedicated Administrative Support Associate to serve as the primary administrative assistant and office manager for the Humanities and Arts and Ideas Programs. This full-time position is crucial in providing comprehensive administrative assistance to various programs, including the Center for Jewish Studies (CJS). The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks that support the Directors of the Humanities Program and the Arts and Ideas Program, as well as the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Distinguished Teaching Professor. In this role, the employee will act as the first point of contact for program inquiries, manage course schedules, assist with technology needs for Humanities Lecturers, and maintain files and records. The position also involves managing budgets, processing purchase orders, handling travel requests and reimbursements, and maintaining calendars. The Administrative Support Associate will schedule meetings, reserve spaces, assist with faculty searches, and serve as a public contact for students, providing them with information on campus resources and policies. Additionally, the role includes promoting departmental events and maintaining the website to support various programmatic needs. The Humanities and Arts and Ideas programs aim to provide an interdisciplinary foundation for the liberal studies program at UNC Asheville. The Humanities Program includes a four-course sequence that integrates literature, history, philosophy, and the arts, while the Arts and Ideas Program offers general education courses that explore the critical and historical context of the arts. Both programs collaborate closely on faculty development initiatives and events such as the annual Arts Fest. The Center for Jewish Studies enriches the campus community by hosting leading scholars and artists, contributing to a vibrant academic environment.
