About the position

Burgess Law PC is a small but fast-paced law firm located in downtown Austin, specializing in high-stakes business litigation. We are currently seeking an Admin / Legal Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for a bright, college-educated individual who possesses strong writing skills, a charming personality, and a robust work ethic. Attention to detail is crucial, as the role involves various tasks that require solid spelling and grammar. The successful candidate will report directly to a long-time paralegal, providing an excellent opportunity to learn the intricacies of legal work. The responsibilities of the Admin / Legal Assistant will range from answering phones and interacting with clients to drafting correspondence, discovery documents, and pleadings. The role is dynamic and often involves courtroom activities, which means the assistant will be responsible for coordinating logistics, ensuring that lawyers, staff, and clients are well-informed and supported. As the primary point of contact for the firm, the assistant must bring energy and positivity to all interactions, fostering a welcoming environment for clients and colleagues alike. Candidates should be organized, capable of managing their own time effectively, and possess a fun-loving personality. A reliable vehicle and a clean driving record are necessary, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information. The firm values an “all hands-on deck” attitude, especially in supporting the team and clients during busy periods. While prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal is not required, a willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
