About the position

The Research Administrator will oversee administrative operations for the Center for Climate Science at UCLA, managing budgets, grant reporting, and collaborative research projects. This role involves defining priorities for the Center, executing grant proposals, and maintaining relationships with funding partners. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Center budgets in coordination with relevant unit fund managers.
  • Define and execute priorities for the Center.
  • Oversee the Center's grant reporting and contribute to grant proposals.
  • Interface with program managers and funder contacts.
  • Manage large collaborative research projects and plan workshops, meetings, and events.
  • Hire and manage additional support staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of climate change science, policy, and communications.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile detailed financial data.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy for collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in resolving conflicts among diverse teams.
  • High fluency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prepare budgets for extramural funds.
