About the position

The Administration Application Developer will work under limited supervision to develop, test, and document complex computer programs for the South Carolina Department of Public Health. This role focuses on enhancing systems software within the Administration Program areas, particularly in Public Health Administration systems. The developer will collaborate with senior developers to ensure seamless integration of applications and provide technical support, while adhering to IT application development standards.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and document complex agency computer programs.
• Develop and implement specialized programs to enhance systems software.
• Integrate and monitor supporting backend system processes and solutions.
• Remediate and solve customer-reported issues.
• Act as a technical consultant to customers and collaborate with technology staff.
• Prepare and maintain system documentation for supported applications.
• Respond to application-related service calls and support the IT Service Center.
• Provide appropriate administrative documentation and project communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with work experience in computer programming.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for work experience.
• Knowledge of information systems design, testing, debugging, analysis, maintenance, and security techniques.
• Experience in writing SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Proficiency in XML writing skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks efficiently.

Nice-to-haves
