About the position

The Administration & Operations Manager (AOM) at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the Denver office, ensuring a positive office culture, and managing administrative and operational support for attorneys and staff. This role involves supervising support staff, managing human resources functions, coordinating office management tasks, and assisting with financial management and budgeting. The AOM will work closely with the Office Managing Partner to execute the office's vision and provide exceptional service to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage legal assistant and office support staff, including coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Oversee staff assignments, workflow, and establish priorities for legal assistants and support staff.
  • Assist with the employee life cycle of legal assistants and support staff, including recruiting and terminating.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage compensation for legal assistants and support staff.
  • Build relationships with timekeepers to identify needs and solicit feedback on performance.
  • Maintain a positive office culture and advocate for staff.
  • Conduct monthly team meetings for support staff.
  • Communicate and enforce HR policies and procedures under the direction of Firm HR.
  • Participate in onboarding of new hires, including conducting orientation and training.
  • Coordinate with the Recruiting Department on attorney and summer associate recruiting and onboarding.
  • Manage facilities and office services, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with preparing the annual office operations budget and review monthly financial reports.
  • Review and approve invoices and expenses for the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in an administrative capacity with office management and direct management of support staff, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computing skills including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week during normal weekday business hours.
