About the position

The Administrative Aide/Animal Control position is a part-time role focused on supporting animal control operations and community education in Norco. The role involves processing pet adoptions, managing animal control reports, and providing customer service to the public. The position requires effective communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to handle various administrative tasks related to animal control services.

Responsibilities

  • Process pet adoptions and dog licenses
  • Handle requests for service and follow up with clients
  • Process animal redemptions and reports
  • Edit and update animal adoption websites
  • Coordinate donations and maintain public education documents
  • Answer phones and provide information to the public
  • Process monthly and yearly Animal Control reports
  • Manage cash drawer and prepare cash deposits
  • Order materials and reconcile invoices
  • Coordinate animal medical and grooming services
  • Manage court workers and volunteers

Requirements

  • Three years of general office experience
  • Experience in an animal shelter or veterinary office is a plus
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid California Drivers' License with a good driving record
  • Ability to organize work and manage time effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of office and customer service methods
  • Basic bookkeeping and budget management skills
  • Familiarity with MS Office and Chameleon software

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in animal control or related fields
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and city laws related to animal control
