The position involves performing a wide range of clerical, secretarial, and general office duties, including those of a confidential nature. The individual will prioritize office activities and delegate work to student and/or casual employees, potentially acting as a work leader to junior clerical support staff. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries with a comprehensive knowledge of the department's activities, policies, and programs, and interacting with the general public as the NYU liaison, as well as with University personnel at senior levels to resolve issues and problems. The role also requires customizing and/or composing letters on initiative or in response to requests for information, performing general word processing duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions, modifying and/or creating databases and complex spreadsheets, and monitoring complex department budgets and/or grants.
