About the position

The Town of Cicero is seeking a part-time Administrative Aide to join our team at the Canteen, a youth center dedicated to supporting and enhancing the lives of teens in our community. This versatile position will play a crucial role in assisting the Director and Assistant Director with various administrative tasks, event planning, and participant monitoring. The Administrative Aide will be responsible for providing staff relief from administrative duties, ensuring the smooth operation of the Canteen program, and contributing to a positive environment for the youth we serve. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail, as these are essential for managing the diverse responsibilities of this role. The position generally requires availability from Monday to Friday, with hours typically from 12 PM to 5 PM, although some flexibility in scheduling is available to accommodate the needs of the Canteen. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to the changing needs of the program and its participants. In addition to administrative support, the Administrative Aide will be expected to engage with the teens, demonstrating empathy and understanding of the challenges they face today. A strong interest in youth development and community service is essential for success in this role. The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. A background in business, social services, or a related field, along with relevant experience, will be beneficial in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director and Assistant Director of the youth center in administrative tasks.
  • Assist in event planning and participant monitoring.

Requirements

  • Graduation with an Associate's Degree in Business, Social Services, or a related field.
  • 2 years of general office or social services experience required.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Skilled with MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Some knowledge of municipal programs, policies, procedures, and regulations.
