About the position

The Administrative Aide position at the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is focused on providing essential administrative support to the Program Supervisor and Case Management Specialists in the Howard County Office. This role is crucial for managing daily office operations and ensuring effective communication and coordination within the team, ultimately contributing to the mission of transforming young lives and fostering safer communities.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily office functions including secretarial support and maintaining office organization.
• Compile monthly office duty calendars and complete typing assignments accurately and timely.
• Compose correspondence such as court memos, emails, and appointment letters.
• Coordinate the initial orientation process for new supervision clients, including contacting families and gathering necessary documents.
• Receive referrals from the Howard County Police Department and schedule intake dockets.
• Enter intake decisions in the ASSIST database and manage related correspondence.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Four years of experience performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
• Two years of experience managing an office in the criminal justice field.

Nice-to-haves

• At least two years of experience working for a senior-level manager or administrator managing calendars.
• At least one year of experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
• General experience with the ASSIST database.
