About the position

The Administrative Aide position at the City of Rialto is a part-time, at-will role designed to provide administrative support across various departments. This position involves completing a range of routine to moderately complex administrative and technical tasks under direct supervision, aimed at gaining experience in public administration and technical disciplines. The role is limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year, averaging about 20 hours per week, and does not include benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management and technical staff with administrative assignments.
  • Collect, summarize, and analyze information and statistics on existing programs and services.
  • Participate in organizational and procedural studies and prepare reports and manuals.
  • Conduct surveys and perform research and statistical analysis regarding municipal policies, procedures, and services.
  • Participate in the design of forms and implementation of systems.
  • Prepare research to resolve administrative, personnel, or operational concerns/problems.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and prepare related reports as required.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, particularly computer equipment for data input and retrieval.
  • Adhere to City and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • One year of related government experience preferred.
  • Completion of two years of college with major coursework in public administration, business administration, political science, accounting, finance, geographic information systems, engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license.
  • Knowledge of good customer service practices, principles of public administration, municipal finance, budgeting, accounting, research techniques, and computer software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in government or public administration roles.
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS).
