About the position

The City of Sacramento is seeking an Administrative Analyst (Financial Analyst) to join the Fiscal unit within the Administrative Division. This role is primarily responsible for managing the division's operating and project budgets, monitoring expenditures, and participating in the year-end closing process. The position involves collaboration with other professional staff and leading a team of Accounting Technicians and Account Clerk IIs, overseeing accounting functions and various administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in budget management, public finance, and accounting procedures, along with strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the division's operating and project budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures and quarterly disbursements.
  • Participate in the year-end closing process.
  • Collaborate with other professional staff and lead a team of Accounting Technicians and Account Clerk IIs.
  • Provide guidance on accounting procedures and complex budget issues.
  • Assist with audits and coordinate accounting activities across City departments.
  • Support routine financial operations and develop business processes.
  • Review and approve financial transactions, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Two years of full-time paid experience in report writing, research, analysis, or technical support in administration or program management.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in public or business administration, economics, accounting, or a closely related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in auditing principles.
  • Knowledge of procurement, contracting, or grant writing.
