About the position

The City of Cedar Falls is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to support various city departments by performing clerical, financial recordkeeping, and customer service duties. This role involves working 25-29 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday, with a focus on assisting staff with special projects and digital imaging needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of financial recordkeeping and clerical duties.
  • Assist with word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry.
  • Schedule appointments and manage calendars.
  • Issue various permits and licenses.
  • Handle accounts payable and cash receipts.
  • Enter payroll data and maintain filing systems.
  • Respond to public requests and provide customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Support special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with specialized training in clerical/secretarial, financial, accounting, or bookkeeping procedures.
  • At least one year of experience in secretarial, administrative, clerical, and bookkeeping roles with significant public contact.
  • Experience with computer data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
