About the position

The Administrative Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating and coordinating patient care within a hospital setting. This position involves collaborating with healthcare providers, scheduling appointments, educating patients, and ensuring smooth transitions between various healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments, procedures, and tests for patients.
  • Collect and review patient medical history and insurance information.
  • Educate patients on their condition, treatment plan, and follow-up instructions.
  • Coordinate care with healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and specialists.
  • Refer patients to appropriate community resources and support services.
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate updates to the healthcare team.
  • Assist with discharge planning and home care arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as data entry and billing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and computer software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassion and understanding of patient needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in patient care coordination or case management may be required.
  • Bilingual skills may be a plus.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is beneficial.
