About the position

The Administrative Assistant II for Police Admin is responsible for performing a variety of advanced clerical tasks that require independent judgment and office knowledge. This role involves maintaining records, processing reports, and assisting the Deputy Chief of Police, while ensuring accuracy and completeness in various documents. The position supports the Police Support Services division and requires effective communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, processes, and maintains various records, reports, and files including evaluations, physicals, workers compensation, and employee crashes.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment.
  • Maintains and prepares award notifications, memorandums, and certificates for monthly and annual award ceremonies.
  • Maintains files and confidential information.
  • Updates and maintains department rosters.
  • Answers telephones and disseminates information.
  • Assists and completes duties for other Administrative Assistants within Administration when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, such as assisting with ceremonies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience as an Administrative Assistant.
  • Must meet Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) and Melbourne Police Department background investigation requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the procedures, duties, and responsibilities of the units of operation to which assigned.
  • Knowledge of current office practices, methods, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuality, and arithmetic.
  • Skill in data entry.
