About the position

The Administrative Assistant III position at Teller County Government serves as the first point of contact for the Centennial building, providing essential administrative support to the Human Resources department. This role involves greeting visitors, managing phone communications, and performing various clerical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for Teller County's Centennial building by greeting clients, visitors, and guests; determining the purpose of each person's visit and directing them to the appropriate location.
  • Answer, screen, and direct phone calls on a multi-line system.
  • Perform basic administrative functions to support the daily operation of the Human Resources department.
  • Pick up, receive, and distribute mail, documents, and deliveries.
  • Order and maintain inventories of office supplies.
  • Manage department vendors and coordinate for repair and/or delivery.
  • Assist with community education by maintaining bulletin board displays, marquees, pamphlet distribution, and promotional displays.
  • Perform other projects and provide backup support to HR staff and County Support Manager as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an office setting involving public contact.
  • Knowledge of local government and basic understanding of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various office equipment.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage a filing system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a government or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with customer service principles and practices.
