About the position

The Administrative Assistant/Manager position at Chesterfield County Health Department involves overseeing complex administrative duties and supervising various health program support staff. The role is crucial for ensuring efficient clinic operations, managing personnel, and providing programmatic direction while working closely with nursing and operations management. The position also includes responsibilities for facility management, purchasing, and maintaining accurate records, all aimed at enhancing the health department's service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all PH, Immunization, PPNBHV/MCH administrative support staff in the County Health Department, including equitable delegation of duties and performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates with Regional Management regarding program standards, policies, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Provides direct services to clients according to administrative policies and procedures.
  • Manages local administrative purchasing requests and maintains an accurate Perpetual Inventory Control system for supplies.
  • Participates in disaster preparedness during hazardous weather or emergency declarations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment; a bachelor's degree may substitute for related work experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and procedures of public and business administration.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, assign, direct, and review the work of others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public health administration or similar field.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
