About the position

The Administrative Assistant in the HOPP Office of Scientific Research Management at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) plays a crucial role in supporting faculty members and research teams. This position involves providing administrative and operational support to facilitate effective research and academic efforts, ensuring smooth communication and coordination among various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support to HOPP faculty and research teams.
  • Assist faculty with laboratory management and research activities.
  • Manage complex calendars and schedule meetings on behalf of the manager.
  • Coordinate international and domestic travel, building detailed agendas and itineraries.
  • Assist in acquisition and inventory management for supplies and lab equipment.
  • Handle administrative functions including payroll, letters of recommendation, CV updates, and travel/reimbursement logs.
  • Plan and execute departmental and lab initiatives, ensuring smooth communication flow.
  • Troubleshoot process and paperwork problems, proactively following up on resolutions.
  • Establish detailed courses of action for duties, demonstrating thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Provide cross-coverage for administrative team members in their absence.

Requirements

  • Experience in an administrative role, preferably in healthcare, research, or laboratory setting.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
