About the position

The Administrative Assistant for the Office of Support Services at the South Carolina Department of Public Safety plays a crucial role in providing administrative support to the Logistics Team and other departments. This position involves a variety of tasks including managing purchase orders, inventory tracking, and assisting with administrative duties to ensure efficient operations within the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Logistics Team and other departments as needed.
  • Create purchase order shopping carts and ensure accuracy of purchase requisitions.
  • Monitor progress of purchase order receipts and assist in vendor communications.
  • Manage goods and asset movements in the SAP (SCEIS) system.
  • Conduct weekly inventory cycle counts and assist with random inventory checks.
  • Answer phone calls, greet guests, and manage office supply orders.
  • Assist with badge and weapon inventory for the agency armorer.
  • Prepare equipment lists for returning assets from retiring officers.
  • Carry out other administrative tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 2 years of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree in lieu of experience.
  • Typing/keyboarding skills of at least 45 words per minute.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Attention to detail, especially in auditing work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP (SCEIS), particularly in Citrix.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and procurement processes.
