About the position

The Administrative Assistant (Seasonal) at YMCA Camp Cosby plays a crucial role in supporting the camp's operations during the summer. This position involves managing office tasks, handling camper registration, and facilitating communication with parents, all while embodying the YMCA's mission and values. The role requires teamwork, enthusiasm, and a commitment to providing excellent service to campers and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Attend applicable staff meetings.
  • Manage camper forms.
  • Sort and distribute staff and camper mail.
  • Complete daily reports.
  • Maintain a clean and professional office environment.
  • Manage check out day.
  • Manage camper emails.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed on time and in an orderly fashion.
  • Work with the online camper database and Google Docs to print necessary reports.
  • During check in and check out, sign campers in, speak with families, confirm forms are gathered, and ensure final payment is made before the camper is sent to their cabin.

Requirements

  • Belief in the YMCA Mission and exemplification of high moral standards, Christian character, and values.
  • An attitude of teamwork and enthusiasm for service to others.
  • Prior experience with children in camping or related youth work.
  • Prior experience with computer work, including Google Drive, online databases, and generating reports.
  • Physical ability to cover entire campgrounds and participate in all camp activities.
  • Ability to positively work with staff from different backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of Camp Cosby and YMCA of Greater Birmingham policies and procedures, with adherence to these policies.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certifications.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
