About the position

The Administrative Assistant for the TRIO program at Craven Community College provides essential clerical, administrative, and project support to enhance the efficiency and integrity of the Student Support Services program. This part-time role involves direct interaction with students and staff, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication within the department. The position is contingent upon federal funding and involves various responsibilities, including data management, event coordination, and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of responsible clerical, technical, administrative and office support duties in support of the department.
  • Provide customer service and a swift response rate, both in-person and by telephone; screen and direct telephone calls; take and relay messages; answer questions from students, employees and the general public.
  • Perform data entry in Blumen database.
  • Assist with maintaining staff schedules including making appointments.
  • Input, retrieve and assemble data on project participants; compile annual reports and project evaluations.
  • Create and update hardcopy and electronic records; pull and re-file records; purge inactive records and files according to document retention policy and procedures.
  • Maintain an annual events calendar; coordinate and design program marketing materials.
  • Assist with providing workshops, training sessions, cultural enrichment activities, and trips for program participants.
  • Update and maintain social media accounts and email lists.
  • Assist in the coordination, facilitation and delivery of institutional outreach endeavors for program participants.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and order supplies for the department; process travel documents for department staff and student program participants.
  • Research, compile and analyze data for special projects and reports.
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the Colleges mission, core values and goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years' experience in an office environment performing administrative tasks.
  • Valid NC Drivers' License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
