About the position

The Town of Montverde is seeking a friendly and energetic Administrative Assistant/Utility Billing Clerk to manage clerical and customer relations tasks related to utility billing and accounts. This full-time position serves as the first point of contact for citizens, handling inquiries and concerns while performing various accounting functions with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome customers, answer phone inquiries, and respond to mail inquiries.
  • Process monthly billings and payments, process cut-offs and requests for new service.
  • Prepare monthly reports, including water reports and unaccounted water reports.
  • Handle all aspects of the city's water, sewer, and trash services.
  • Set up new utility accounts and update account information.
  • Record all past and present customers' information.
  • Provide general information regarding services, rates, and discrepancies to customers and potential customers.
  • Act as the primary receptionist for the town hall, managing counter and telephone inquiries.
  • Assist in answering customer questions and directing the public to the proper department.
  • Work with utility providers to report on needed streetlight repairs.
  • Assist contractors with building permit applications and answer questions regarding application submittals.
  • Process and maintain work orders assigned to public works.
  • Assist at the library counter as needed, checking books in and out and answering questions.

Requirements

  • Must be a United States citizen and at least 18 years of age.
  • High school graduate or GED required; 30 hours of college preferred but not required.
  • Two years of excellent customer service experience in cashiering, money handling, and/or billing-related experience.
  • Notary public or the ability to obtain it within the first six months of employment.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and clean criminal history.
  • Must possess mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment.
  • Customer service-focused individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in general office procedures, cash handling, typing, and computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet search tools.
  • Highly organized and able to maintain confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves
