About the position

The Administrative Assistant role is a short-term contract opportunity focused on supporting the recreation department with various administrative tasks. This position involves handling inquiries, coordinating events, managing databases, and creating reports to assist in departmental planning and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound calls from residents, ensuring their inquiries are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Assist in coordinating summer events and programs, liaising with vendors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Undertake database management tasks to maintain and update records.
  • Create comprehensive reports for the department to aid in decision-making and planning.
  • Utilize MS Word and Microsoft Excel to perform administrative tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to support the successful execution of departmental events and programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience in an Administrative Assistant role or similar
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Database Management
  • Experience coordinating events and working with vendors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, government environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • High school diploma or equivalent, higher education or certifications an asset
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for any employer.
