About the position

Kidango is an early learning nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in kindergarten and beyond. As the largest child care provider in the San Francisco Bay Area, we focus on providing safe, healthy, and nurturing environments for children, particularly those from low-income families. Our mission extends beyond direct service; we engage in policy work to influence early childhood education at various levels of government. The Administrative Center Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the center directors and teaching staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our centers while also contributing to the educational environment as a teacher aide. In this role, the Administrative Center Aide will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks that are essential for the daily functioning of the center. This includes maintaining and updating important records such as enrollment, attendance, and meal counts, as well as assisting in the planning and preparation of the learning environment. The aide will also manage calendars, schedule meetings, and facilitate communication between families and staff through newsletters and other announcements. Additionally, the aide will support classroom activities, particularly during staff breaks and emergencies, ensuring that the needs of the children are met at all times. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a passion for working with young children. They will be expected to maintain confidentiality and uphold the health and safety standards of the center. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Center Director in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the program.
  • Maintain and update records on-site, including enrollment, attendance, meal counts, daily logs, teacher files, child files, curriculum sheets, Learning Genie, ASQs, child observations and assessments, and parent participation and surveys.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, and purchasing and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Manage calendars, including scheduling of meetings with various departments.
  • Distribute and collect forms, announcements, and other center-related documents.
  • Assist in sending out newsletters, emails, and other communications to families and staff.
  • Review reports and child files to ensure accurate record keeping, documentation, quality of services, and compliance.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, phones, data entry, compiling paperwork, and ordering supplies.
  • Assist center with coverage for staff breaks, meal prep, nap time, and, if needed, staff absences.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all children, families, and staff.
  • Assist other centers when requested.
  • Attend meetings as requested and participate in activities that further own professional growth.
  • Assume general responsibility for the health, safety, and well-being of all children, reporting any concerns to the supervisor, center director, or Human Resources department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework or an associate degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Google Docs, and other cloud-based applications.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Respect for diversity and ability to work with multicultural communities.
  • Ability to problem solve and accept responsibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some college coursework or an associate degree may be preferred.
  • Enjoys working with a team and with young children.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties.
