About the position

The Administrative Chief of Staff at Austin Community College (ACC) plays a crucial role in leading strategic initiatives and projects assigned by the Chancellor. This position ensures the effective operation of the Chancellor's Office and maintains timely communication with the Chancellor regarding daily operations. The Chief of Staff is responsible for implementing the Chancellor's directives, coordinating communication services, and supporting effective leadership within the ACCD. The role requires excellent judgment, diplomacy, and a deep understanding of college issues to assist the Chancellor in decision-making and to foster an atmosphere of excellence aligned with the college's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic and tactical initiatives and projects as assigned by the Chancellor.
  • Maintain constant communication with the Chancellor regarding day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure implementation of the Chancellor's directives and represent ACCD.
  • Coordinate with OCRM to develop and implement strategic communication services.
  • Support the Chancellor in building coalitions and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, speeches, and presentations for the Chancellor.
  • Manage the Chancellor's calendar and prioritize communications needing direct response.
  • Supervise, train, and coordinate the Chancellor's Office Team members.
  • Gather and analyze information affecting college-wide issues and prepare relevant reports.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns from students, staff, and the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years of related work experience with effective supervisory experience.
  • Proven experience in project management and event planning.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Workday software.
  • Experience in budgeting processes and strategic planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least five years of experience in higher education related to the duties specified.
  • Knowledge of databases and data management systems.
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud software.
