About the position

The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking a staff attorney for the Office of Appeals, Legal Research, and Market Regulation. This role is crucial in managing complex research and rulemaking matters, providing legal analysis, and advising on legislation to protect consumers and maintain public confidence in Michigan's insurance industry. Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex research and rulemaking matters involving state and federal laws.
• Provide legal research and advice on complex issues for the Director's decisions.
• Advise colleagues on draft and pending legislation.
• Perform legal analysis, research, and drafting for final decisions regarding enforcement cases.

Requirements

• Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
• Three years of professional experience in legal work, including one year equivalent to an Administrative Law Specialist P15 or an Administrative Law Examiner P15; or three years of experience as an attorney.
• Membership in good standing in the Michigan State Bar.
