About the position

The Administrative Manager (HEA) at the City College of New York is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and maintenance of the Center for Discovery and Innovation, a modern research facility. This role involves ensuring a functional and efficient research environment for faculty, coordinating with various departments for infrastructure maintenance, managing security access, and overseeing property management. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a functional, efficient, and comfortable research environment for faculty and staff.
  • Coordinate and monitor infrastructure maintenance with the Facilities Department.
  • Manage a comprehensive database of security access credentials in collaboration with the Office of Public Safety.
  • Oversee the tracking and maintenance of CUNY-tagged property within the premises.
  • Coordinate network maintenance and upgrades with the Department of Information Technology.
  • Handle accounting, purchasing, and invoice processing for equipment and infrastructure upkeep.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety and the Office of Research on safety and compliance issues.
  • Facilitate visitors and guests for meetings, events, and tours.
  • Supervise student workers as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Master's or PhD degree in the sciences.
  • Experience in a higher-education or non-profit research-driven scientific operation.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art technology used in scientific research.
