About the position

The Administrative Manager for Dakota County's Public Health Department serves as a senior leader responsible for managing the administrative operations of the department. This role ensures quality customer service and effective service delivery while overseeing the development and implementation of policies and procedures. The position involves budget planning, financial management, grant and contract oversight, and project management, all aimed at supporting the department's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the administrative operations of the Public Health Department to ensure quality customer service.
  • Develop and implement department and division-wide policies and procedures.
  • Monitor operational compliance and performance.
  • Lead the budget planning process and oversee department financial management.
  • Supervise a team of professional leaders in the administrative and operations section.
  • Coordinate and lead the implementation of administrative initiatives and projects.
  • Represent the department in meetings with division and county partners.
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness training and responses.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools to support the department's technical needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Management, or a related field AND five years of administrative and supervisory experience, or a Master's degree in a related field AND three years of experience.
  • Experience in budget, contract, and/or grant management, and project management.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in strategic planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Public Health or Community Health or closely related field.
  • Progressive supervisory experience.
  • Governmental public health experience.
